How to make more legs.
1.
Minimize climbing time.
Spend 2 to 2.5 sec climb for 4leg pattern and 3 to 3.5 sec for 6 leg
pattern.
The most important thing is to climb to the aiming height in
shortest possible time.
The climbing time depends on the condition of the air fot that particular
day and how fast it was flying on the last leg. When conditions are good
and the glider is flying fast, the last leg also becomes faster and this
helps climbing the next time.
The way to climb in the shortest time is to go straight up but you need some room to the right side
(if gate B is to the left) in order to have the right entry attitude.
Another way to make an effective climbing pattern is to start to climb 5~6m before gate A on the last leg.
It can be in the proper climbing angle by the time it passes gate A before you turn on the motor.
If you turn the motor on and pull up after passing gate A it tends to move to the right side more than necessary.
This is because of the gyroscopic effect of the motor and the sudden acceleration.
2. Enter the course in top speed.
Find motor and prop combination which gives
top speed when its enter the course.
I fly it in my style and find out which prop gives me top speed in about
2 to 2.5 seconds.
When you repeat climb entry many time with different prop. You begin to
notice which prop reach maximum at right moment by its sound and
speed. If it feels too
heavy. Change prop to lower pitch. If its feels past peak rpm then change to the higher one.
